The collection also includes programmes from Otago Ranfurly Shield rugby games and for entertainment aboard the ship 'Rangitiki'. There are photographs of Dora Drake and other performers, of the Otago University 'A' rugby team, and of various unidentified people.

Her singing teacher was her uncle, well-known singer and teacher Ernest Drake, and her cousin, Bryan Drake, had a successful international opera career. In 1950 Dora Drake received a New Zealand Government Scholarship and spent several years in London where she studied singing and performed in operas and concerts. In 1963 she became first President of Dunedin's Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
