DescriptionA colour luggage label for the Wanaka Hotel.History / BiographyBuilt by Theodore Russell when he moved to Wanaka in 1867, the outbuildings of the Lake Wanaka Hotel were destroyed by fire on 16 November 1881. The hotel was then completely destroyed by fire on 27th November 1922. It was rebuilt in concrete for Hugh Glass under the design of Edward Walden and operating by Christmas 1923. The hotel was again destroyed by fire on 13 June 1958. It was rebuilt and opened on 14 November 1964 under the operation of the Tourist Hotel Corporation.
