The images are group portraits taken mostly outside the front of the house and are notable for their sense of affection and fun. There is also a group portrait of workers taken outside the woolshed, a group in a cart and one of two women (wearing hats and full length dresses) and two men on a pipe spanning the river between Mount Ross and Matarae.

A James Wilson had worked as a shepherd for James Elliott when he was manager at Lauder Station in 1890. See Janet Thomson's book, Shepherd's Progress, p.144. An 18 inch pipe used to bring water from Sutton Creek to the sluice.PublisherFound in the cellar of 75 Eglington Road where a photographer once lived. The house was built in 1912-13 and first owned by a James Wilson.
