Henry studied and preserved birds in the Te Anau area and wrote a number of articles. He was Curator of Resolution Island and adjacent islands 1894-1908 (from 'The Dictionary of New Zealand Biography', Volume Two 1870-1900, ed. Dr Claudia Orange, Wellington, 1993).Publisherdd Mrs Amy Deans, Waimate, 1966. Photographs were given to Arthur Deans by his boss, Richard Henry, when Deans worked as his assistant about 1900 at Pigeon Island. According to the donor, the photographs were all taken by Richard Henry, except the portrait, 'On the Watch' is attributed to Dr W.S.W. Roberts.
