It includes many named family portraits as well as publicity photographs of Hollywood actors and actresses, plus the Danish dancer, Helene Kirsova. There are shots of identified ships, and photographs of Dunedin schools.
The collection contains scenes of University of Otago and campus life including capping in the 1920s. Other Dunedin scenes include a photograph of the last cable car from the Exchange to Mornington. Other New Zealand places photographed include Picton, Naseby, Oamaru, Waikouaiti and Milford Sound.
There are also photographs of the Naseby Fire Brigade and the interior of New Zealand House in London.

She attended St Hilda's College and gained her Leaving Certificate in 1930. She married Eric Alexander Maunsell in 1938 and had two children, Miranda (b.1942) and Beatrice (b. 1945 and d. 11 hours later). See full biographical notes housed with the collection.ProvenanceDonated by Miranda B. Maunsell, at the request of her late parents, Eric Alexander Maunsell and Dorothy Millicent Maunsell. Most of the photographs were taken by Dorothy Maunsell (née Scoular) and her daughter Miranda.
