Only the diary from this collection is digitised and available through Digital Collections. History / BiographyJohn Hugh Allen, a son of Sir James Allen and brother of C.R. Allen, was a member of Jesus College at Cambridge. He was heavily involved in college life and also wrote for newspapers, often presenting the 'colonial' point of view. He received an LLB and returned to New Zealand in 1912, where he practiced as a lawyer and continued to write. He was killed at Gallipoli in 1915.
