The University has strong links with Malaysia, and around 800 Malaysian students graduated from the University between 1950 and 1997. Distinguished Malaysian alumni include Tan Sri Dato Hj Ahmad Azizuddin Bin Hj Zainal Abidin (graduated 1955), Datuk Amar Sulaiman Daud (1962), Datuk Leo Moggie (1965), and Dr Mazlan Othman (1975, 1981).
