The collection includes scrapbooks, programmes, newspaper clippings, periodicals, music, video recordings, and a large selection of photographs dating from the late nineteenth century through to the 1980s.

An electrician by trade, he later became a company director. He performed in brass bands from the 1950s and was particularly associated with the St Kilda Band.
