Also included are photographs and photograph albums. Many of the papers and publications are in German, and a few in Spanish.

They married in Spain, where they became caught up in the Civil War, fleeing again to Britain. They came to New Zealand in 1948, where Franz became Director of the University of Otago Medical School's cancer research unit.
