His published works included a history of Glenaray Station, 'Glenaray', published in 1984, and 'Let there be Light', a history of the Otago Central Electric Power Board, co-authored with Ron Hall and published in 1986. His other works include guide books, maps, pamphlets, and booklets about goldmining claims, and a history of Glenorchy School. Before his death Chandler was researching two books on the history of goldmining days of Central Otago, one dealing with the Shotover River claims and the other with the early runholders of the Lakes District.
