There are also photographs of the Invercargill home 'Wellesley',which was the residence of Peter McKellar, and a subdivision plan for the township of Wellesley. Also included are a series of 'carte de visite' style photographic portraits which appear to date from the 1860s onwards. Most are named, and most were produced by Dunedin and Invercargill photographers. The collection also includes two surveying notebooks of Charles McKellar, with notes and sketches of sites in the Otago region, and his scrapbook, which includes clippings, photographs and ephemera.

She is the daughter of Charles McKellar, a surveyor. Charles was the son of Peter McKellar, from a Scottish family which farmed in Southland from the 1850s, and his wife Helen Coghill. Helen Coghill's sister, Catherine Coghill, married Captain A.J. Elles, who was captain of the immigrant ship 'Philip Laing' and a pioneer settler of Invercargill.
