There are also Turner's subject files, which include his papers on a wide field of topics. They generally include clippings, references and his notes, sometimes including drafts of papers to be published or notes for lectures he gave. There are copies of Turner's publications and writings. Also included are Turner's sermons, prayers and other worship materials. Turner's card index files, which note bibliographical references and biographical and contact details for people, make up one series. There are a few personal papers, including correspondence with family, accounts and reminiscences. Images of Turner's 'mentors', which he kept on his study wall, are included. There is a collection of reel-to-reel audio tapes, including recordings of music, messages to family, and religious services in Africa and the United States of America. There are also tapes of Turner's 1976 Burns Lectures and of Lloyd Geering at his heresy trial. A collection of audiocassette tapes includes messages sent to and from Lesslie Newbigin. There is a three dimensional model illustrating the relationship between religion and culture, which Turner refers to in his subject files.

He continued his research and writing after retiring back to New Zealand, where he also founded a Christian 'think tank', the DeepSight Trust.
