She wrote about her areas of interest in radio broadcasts, book reviews, published books and articles and in answering the many inquiries that came to her. Botanical collecting, plant and insect identification, birds, teaching about the environment and how to protect it to pass it on to the next generation, and people and their histories, all especially in relation to Rakiura/Stewart Island were spread through her life.
