It staged successful productions for the next couple of years but then appears to have folded. An Otago University Dramatic Society was formed in July 1927 with plans to present a play in 1928 but this did not eventuate. In September 1931 the University of Otago's Literary Society was renamed the University Literary and Dramatic Society. On 10th May 1934 a special general meeting was held where it was agreed that the Literary and Dramatic Societies would operate separately. The Otago University Dramatic Society continued until 1994 when it finally closed.
