Description

DescriptionA brown and blue oval-shaped luggage label for O'Connell's Hotel.History / BiographyJames and Iris O'Connell, with James's sister Mary, purchased the Beach House, a private guesthouse, in Beach Street, Queenstown in 1937. They ran it as the Beach House until 1959 when it became known as O'Connell's Hotel. In 1971 the hotel was incorporated into Vacation Hotels Ltd with the Frankton Motor Hotel and the View Hotel. Vacation Hotels Ltd then merged with Associated Motels Ltd in 1972.
The hotel was eventually demolished in 1986 to make way for the O'Connells Shopping Centre.
