By: kris logan jones10th Oct 2015 6:21PMThis is a photo of the hotel, two years after Eddie Jones bought it from Dennis Pezaro and John and Mary Lee. His Landrover is in the foreground a vehicle which became synonymous with Eddie as he worked on the development of Cardrona Ski field for 10 years. Riding the trike is his son Eiko Jones and sitting in the door way is his daughter Sonia Richter (Jones.) At that time the building was a wreck and this photo is before the facade was raised, repainted by his mother Betty Jones and restored. The road over the Cardrona to Queenstown was gravel at this time and famous for its danger - hence the children playing outside. This was also two years before the Cardrona ski field opened. Eddie says that at that time there would be lucky to be 10-15 cars pass by in a day.
